Our group was looking at riso-printed products and stickers so it was down to me to get these prices in order to work out if our items were possible to make on a budget.
For the Publishing Unbound brief we are creating a poster zine and the poster itself will be typographic, so today we explored the construction of letter forms in 2D and 3D, we then applied that to a poster (or tried to in some cases).
Funnily enough I have already heard today’s Hothouse Talk given by Alistair Hall as he is one of our tutors in the Impression Studio. He has produced work for Penguin and his own studio as well as get involved in the world of monsters…
Today we looked at the idea of camera stills making up a film. We were introduced to Chris Marker and his film La Jetée which I’m going to look at soon as I’m curious about photo montage working as a movie.
In the Impression Studio we currently have two briefs that we have been working on and today in small groups we had a review session.
For the Publishing Unbound brief I needed to find a basis for my article before I could start designing and forming visual ideas.
The Anatomy of a Magazine looks at the study of the structure and internal workings of the page and today were were focused on the cover and layout of the spreads.
We had Nik Hill visit the studio today as our first guest speaker of the year and ex-Cass student. The studio was also set another exciting brief and our first real collaborative project.
Once the first session of Creative Industry Practise was over I had around twenty different rough logo designs. Some workable and others not so.. However I needed to finish one as my own personal visual identity in order to create a business card, comp slip and letterhead.
Today we began looking at branding and how we would create the visual identity for our Impression Studio.
