CIP: Deconstructing Design

This week was split into two different tasks: individual cover deconstruction and a inDesign introduction/refresher.

To begin with we were introduced to the Book Cover Archive and had to select a cover to deconstruct and reproduce ourselves. My chosen book design was ‘That’s When the Knives Come Down’ by Dolan Morgan. I chose this cover because I really liked the collage on the front and wanted to see what it would look like if it had been created using only block colours; while I’m someone that doesn’t use lots and lots of colour in their work I really loved the way the design popped.

The second half of the session was just going through an inDesign tutorial which would help us create paragraph styles. Thankfully I was taught this during the Anthology project so I wasn’t left feeling confused. Anyone struggling with this I would suggest to watch the video below as it has some great explanations.
