CIP: Music of the Sea

Creating the video for Pastiche has probably been one of my least favourite projects because it is so far out of my comfort zone. The prime reason for my discomfort is the idea is to produce a video which uses not only image but text and sound too and when I’m used to only using the image and text together thinking about another element becomes daunting.

Before I started animating anything I wanted to work out what the sound should be that I pair with the video. During my research into Hannah Davies I found that she’s  “happiest near the sea” and much of her work depicts nature and natural forms. Therefore, when it came to think about music my thought was the sea. Having the sound of waves in the background adds another layer of Hannah to my Pastiche video; cements the idea of using waves and water formations to the animation.

I’ve found that although sound is sort of scary if you don’t really know what you’re talking about, it can add value to a piece of work if thought through.
