Using my sketchbook to create some layout ideas was essential. If I’d begun with setting things up on InDesign to start off with rather than headed for the sketchbook then usually the layout of the page ends up permanently looking like the first draft as it looks so ‘final’ and polished even if it really isn’t… Read More Design Competition: Layout Development
As some of my research took me down the context of myth, I’d looked into Greek black-figure pottery as an aesthetic direction. I felt this was something that I could recreate with the riso printer through ink and paper combinations.
The production of the publication is just as important as the content I will be creating! I think after the first Ellipsis brief of the year, Material Process Print, I’m a lot more aware of this fact and so this publication is much more considered than those I had produced last year at level 5.

Once I’d started on my initial content research and worked out what I didn’t want to include in my publication I was then able to develop and complete further research into the areas that jumped out to me!
Once we had all received our Anthology texts, we were then put into groups based on the themes in our writings. The Doll ended up being in the last chapter which is titled ‘Power Beyond Compare,’ which centres around the myth.
One of our first tasks for this project has been to create some visuals in response to the text in order to get the ball rolling. So sketching to a deadline feels incredibly forced for me and I struggled to get ten sketches completed; 8 was as many as I got completed but I think… Read More Ellipsis: The Sketches
