This week we had the opportunity to sign up for ceramics, laser cutting or a 3D workshop of some description which could help with the project at hand or just be a new skill for future reference. I chose to go to the laser cutting induction because I felt that I could pair this up… Read More Ellipsis: The Laser Induction
As a part of the leads team, Puro and I met up today so we could produce a few dummy books to get an idea of how much paper we could fit on a spiral and test out cover ideas.
Once we had all received our Anthology texts, we were then put into groups based on the themes in our writings. The Doll ended up being in the last chapter which is titled ‘Power Beyond Compare,’ which centers around myth.

Today we had our first Core Workshop of 2018 and was something I was dreading… The moment film is involved I panic but it was extremely useful for future reference and aimed for us to explore the contexts and concepts that influence the objects and images we make, in a time-based, narrative way.
Having been in the Impression Studio last year I took part in the Anthology brief before and already have some underlying connotations about the designs of existing anthologies (ours last year was definitely my favourite..).
After the page divider proposal was voted on by the studio I then revised the idea with the help of Alistair. I looked further into the work of Jan Tschichold who created the Penguin Composition Rules and had input from Alistair which really refined the initial design to be used in everyone’s books.
The last day of the term was publication day! Time for everyone’s prints, covers and divider pages to finally come together after what seemed like a really short term…
With our upcoming prints soon to be bound in order to create the first Ellipsis publication of the term, we headed into the letterpress room in order to create some promotional material for the launch.
For my prints I looked at the themes of layering and overprinting so I could explore how colours react when they are layered both in photoshop and when printed.
