This week’s workshop was in the letterpress room and we were able to use the time to experiment with wooden type in order to brainstorm some ideas in relation to the individual response to the anthology brief.
The Cass was open to students today and future designers that are looking to join a Visual Communications course here at London Met, so I spent the morning helping out Kim and getting some more experience in the Letterpress room.
We got our brief last week and today was the day we were coming in to start the printing process. After our last session Kim had printed up our designs with the type we had chosen in order to speed the process along and try and get everything finished before the deadline!
Last year I spent a few of my Wednesdays in the Letterpress room with Kim. Using type physically is pretty great, and enables you to think about the letterforms more so than if you were using digital type.
