The outcome to this project was long overdue but it took me longer than I would have planned to find an outcome I was happy enough to put onto Vimeo and Instagram.
Creating the video for Pastiche has probably been one of my least favourite projects because it is so far out of my comfort zone. The prime reason for my discomfort is the idea is to produce a video which uses not only image but text and sound too and when I’m used to only using… Read More CIP: Music of the Sea
After realising I needed to find a theme or element of Hannah’s work to create a storyboard for my Pastiche 1560 video I went through my sketchbook research and it dawned on me how my video should have been progressing.
The first video I have created using the animation app has become my first draft because truthly I didn’t think through the storyboard properly..
With coming away from the idea of paper puppets and Mary Blair I needed to find a way to animate in quite a basic form. Afterall I didn’t think I’d make a Disney ready animation during the project but with the right application I was confident I could produce a video I was happy with.
Changing ideas and designers means I have further research to carry out.
Sometimes it’s better to start a project over and be happy than spend double the amount of time on your current idea and it never work anyway. This is why I dropped the develop of my Mary Blair pastiche to start a different route altogether.
The initial research into Mary Blair was primarily internet based and focused on Mary’s achievements and her career. I created a timeline of her career in my sketchbook which I could then develop a storyboard and concept from.
For me, creating a video is the most challenging thing I could be asked to do because I just don’t know where to start! Do I attempt to create an animation and draw everything frame by frame or create an equally difficult stop motion?
Pastiche is an artistic work in a style that imitates that of another work, artist, or period. So for this project we are to create a 15-60 second video in the style of an artist.
